company called San Diego Gas and Electric has signed 2 particular purchase agreements that will result in obtaining nearly 15 megawatts of energy which is solar based.The length of the contracts is approximately 20 years and it will need to be approved by the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission). The purchase agreements will also be based in the regions of Victorville and Lancaster in the state of California. The particular project in the region of Lancaster is expected to generate approximately 10 megawatts of renewable energy. The project in the area of Victorville will generate nearly 5 megawatts of renewable energy.The COO of Silver Power who is a subsidiary elaborates on how the contracts with the SDG&E is moving the state of California forward as many communities will have access to cost efficient renewable energy. The COO also pointed out that the collaboration with many utilities and the communities have resulted in a myriad of sustainable projects which help to create jobs and reduce the amount of gas emissions. The state of California also has a Standard Program that is set in force which requires many utilities to obtain about 33 percent of power from renewable energy by the year 2020.
