Redrock Micro
The new DSLR’s that shoot HD video have made quite an impact in cinematography these past 2 years. The leading camera in this segment is the Canon 5D Mark II, which was introduced in the fall of 2008. These cameras are capable of creating cinematic-like depth of field which makes them a great tool for shooting videos that look like the movies. The season finale of House MD this past season was shot entirely on a Canon 5D Mark II with a Redrock Micro rig. The above rig made by Redrock Micro makes a small shaky camera a steady, usable rig for video work. This thing is a bit heavy but I’ve modified it with a DvTec support pod which takes 90% of the weight off of my arms. I have a really cool project coming up in the next few weeks, but I had the opportunity to shoot a quick little video for some classmates this past week. They were creating a spoof video to poke fun at a Fibromyalgia commercial that was downright depressing. We don’t know a lot about fibromyalgia, but this commercial made it appear like a death sentence. This spoof commercial is not intended to make fun of fibromyalgia patients, but rather the approach this commercial took. Fibromyalgia is a real condition and the people with it suffer from terrible chronic pain.
